I'm a junior marine who hasn't really been taught about finances and managing my money. If anyone has some advice and tips to help I'd really appreciate it.
Hey there new join! Glad to have you amongst the FreeLCpl ranks.Let’s start somewhere you’re already putting money. Have you logged into your TSP Account? I’d suggest having them mail you your login credentials and then you can have full access to your retirement accounts. Also you can adjust your mailing address in MyPay and MOL so you can make sure you get your info as quickly as possible upon request.Let me know if you need help!
Yes! As long as you’re contributing at least 5% you’re getting the max match, which is important. Have you checked out Guild Financial yet? Great place to learn the ropes - if you scroll to the bottom of the LCPL lounge you’ll see a link to download their app, and you can get $35 bucks to learn how to invest with promo code: freelcpl. Really glad you’re here - let’s make you rich AF 💪
Hey brother 👋 My golden rule is “spend less than you make”. Everything you don’t spend can be used for two things, saving and investing. Those two actions are what determine what kind of future you have. The earlier you do those actions, the earlier you can take advantage of “compound interest” You’re in a great boat to start out early in your career. Some of the other folks in here could probably give you great tips too.
